Hey Folks,
I've just finished my 6th Unit for my Takeda - none other than the fearsome Seven Samurai!
Completely wrong period of course but these Old Glory sculpts, whilst a bit heroic in parts, have a heap of character.
They will be a crappy FL Ronin unit but should look cool while they die...
Cheers

Impetus: Takeda Archers
Hey Folks,
Quick update. I've 99% finished a T unit of Makasakges Yumi (bow) armed Ashigaru as well as a unit of S Yumi armed Samurai (which are still crappy VBU 2, but look cool)
Just got to add the flock etc.
Next up The Seven Samurai as a FL Ronin unit :)
Cheers

Bolt Action: WTO vs ETO??!
Hey Folks,
Popped round to Nathan and Johns place last night for a game of Bolt Action and took on there Axis combined Kraut/ Hungarian force with my Japanese allied with oddly Adams US Marines??!
We faffed about a bit for the start as we tried to figure out how to play the Hold until Relieved mission. Marines and Japs surrounded the central position and then tried to force them out with some bloody and costly assaults. Highlight was Nathan's totally sweet 4Ground laser cut MDF buildings.
I borrowed a Italian M14/41 to use as a Chi Ha but it did nothing and then got blown up. Highlights were Adams Buffalo chugging up the river MGing Krauts and my Sniper scoring a totally sweet kill on an LMG team which caused them to run. Otherwise nobody was really in a dominant position so we ended it as a Draw.
Cheers

Impetus: Takeda Ashigaru 1st unit Done
Hey Folks,
The Takeda gather quickly to repulse the forces of Shingins epic enemy Kenshin:
http://roughwotr.blogspot.co.nz/2013/03/the-official-rough-war-of-ring-wishlist.html?m=1
I have finished the first unit of Ashigaru with nagae-Yari or the Japanese equivalent of the European Pike. In Impetus this gives the the Long Spear rule. They are part of the retinue of Yamagata Makasakge and their Nobori (banner) carry his Mon. The troops have the uniformed Takeda sashimono. Makasakges troops were the famous "Red Fire" regiment that were the Vanguard of the Takeda. The inspired the later Ii "Red Devils" who fought under Tokugawa.
I've based the rest of the units and reprinted the Samurai Nobori to be part of Shingens Hatamoto, or personal guards.
Next up "crazy zen" Samurai S Yumi (skirmashing archers) and a unit of Ashigaru T Yumi (archers).
Cheers

Impetus: Takeda Ashigaru WIP
Hi Folks,
It's 6 plastic WGF Ashigaru with Yari, and an unpainted metal dude. Wow, what an update you might say...
I'm proud. These models may be cheap but they are a pain in my ass to build. That's what I get for being a cheap ass! Oh we'll, paint on them soon. :)

Impetus: Takeda Samurai
Second attempt at this post as the blogger app on my iThing had a moment, so here is the short version :)
Jamie and I are doing Impetus Samurai. I'm doing Takeda, he's doing Usegui.
First up a FP Samurai unit with Yari and a T Ashigaru unit with Teppo. Figures are crappy WGF (which are cheap and not too crap, but not Perry!) and some OG models I picked up on EBay. I like the fat heads as I'm going for a stylised screen print approach. Just got to flock em. Next up Ashigaru with Yari
Cheers

Bolt Action: 2nd IJA Jungle Fighter Squad
Hi Folks,
After an actual Family Holiday away with the Wife and Kids (something of a first for us as usually I have worked through Christmas) there was not a lot of time left for Hobby stuff.
I did however manage to get in a game of War of the Ring using Xelee's revised Noldor Elven army list which focuses on the forces of Rivendell. I was facing the revised Men of Angmar which have also had teh revision hammer applied. Overall the armies were quite balanced with some terrible luck on Jamie's part and some great luck on mine (go go pink dice :) ) resulting in a decisive win to the Elves. I was stoked as well as I also found 8 sweet High Elven Cohort Spearmen prior to the game I had forgotten I had, so now I have enough for four companies (32 models).
Today I finished the second squad for my Bolt Action Japanese army, for which the new PDF list is here: Bolt Action Japanese PDF
Now as BA is mostly same/ same the list has only a few variations, but one of them is that the Japanese can get bigger squads then most forces (7-15 men instead of 5-11) which while cool means that my two small min sized squads dont work anymore as I lack the extra models for now...so I bumped this squad to 8 men as well.
I am also about to be reading this:
So will see how it is but looks interesting s far as its form the Japanese perspective.
Looking forward to trying out the BA: Japanese later on this week maybe.
Cheers
