Dark Elven Pirates - Yaargh!

Hi all, These are some of my Dark Elven Pirates that I started along time ago. I have been gradually doing work on them and have played the odd game. They are a heap of fun to use and I have always had a soft spot for the Druchii

Below is the colour test for my Corsairs. I have gone with a cold, bleak look to accentuate the cold, heartless nature of the Dark Elves.

Below is my first character, a Sorceress. She is a bit porno, so I painted tattoo's on her, erm, chest but it just made it worse! The model is the sorceress off the Dark Pegasus (not Morathi) on a scratch built palanquin. Its carried by a couple of slaves and is made from the old Dark Eldar Asurabdel Vect throne with sculpted cushions and candles. In game terms it counts as a Dark Steed

I have built about 1000pts worth of the army but have yet to seriously get into painting it, too many distractions.

I did take some photos of a battle tonight vs John's Ogre Kingdoms so I will post a battle report up soonish

Roma Invictus!

I have finally succumbed to my Roman addiction and bought this:

Its pretty cool as it comes with;

• 60 Legionaries
• 20 Praetorian Guard
• 20 Veterans
• 24 Auxiliaries

I also picked up a Legate/Tribune on foot and mounted. All for just over a hundred bucks! Bargain

I'm really excited as I have always been super keen on Romans. I would have preferred Late Republicans but the plastic models from Wargames Factory were not as nice as the Imperials from Warlord games.

Now I'm looking at basing systems that work with multiple rules formats, but if I can do something that fists for War of the Ring, Warhammer Ancients and Impetus then it could work.

I'm currently looking at basing them on 60mm by 40mm bases. That way two next to each other will do for WOTR and Impetus and its the same footprint as 6 WAB bases. I will magnetise the base so they can just attach to whatever sized base I need. I think this may be easier then individual Sabot style bases with 25mm rounds.

I cant wait for them to turn up! Watch this space...

A Minor Setback for the Beige Wizard

This battle was played a few weekends ago and I have only finally got around to posting it. Sauruman of the Many Colours (or Beige in my case) has been rampaging accross the table tops of Middle Earth recently but he has finally met his match in that most meddlesome of men, the King of Gondor himself.

The Isengard Horde arrayed for Battle. Meatwall of Uruks to the fore while the Isengard Rabble and Crossbows lurk in the back. The Feral Uruks are hiding in the far big Ruin.

The Reunited Kingdoms Forces - A solid wall of Men of Minas Tirith. The Viking Huscarls are Men of Amroth. They have also been known to moonlight as Men of Angmar...I wonder if Aaragorn checked their references first?

Battle is Joined! Jamie pushed forward fast and used Aragorns Epic Challenge to throw a spanner in the works. This threw me a bit an I played way more cautiously with the Beige Wizard as I am wont to and as such he was ineffective in the early game. This was to cost me dearly later on.

The King keeps the Pressure on. Jamie did a good job of keeping me pinned in my corner and whittled my units down with superior numbers. Sauruman just couldn't get his grove on and I managed to get my Ruin Shaman killed early on. In hindsight I should have put him with the Isengard Orcs so as to cast Dark Fury on them. Oh well...

Its looking Grim for Isengard. Jamie has used weight of numbers to successfully turn my flanks while the Feral Uruks were dealt too by Aragorn and Friends (though they did kill a fair few Axemen of Lossnarch in the process!)

Ah, my Minions have failed me! Saurman finally gets on form and causes widespread devastation with his spells, especially Tremor!. I missed my chance to kill Aragorn when Jamie left him in a depleted unit but its all too little too late. A decisive victory to the forces of Good.

Good game Jamie, I would love a rematch sometime - The Beige Wizard has lived to fight another day and is busy breeding more Uruk Hai....

The Rabble of Isengard

I have just finished my latest Isengard unit, a rabble of Isengard Orcs.


Now these are only pretty average compared to the mighty Uruk Hai but they are a) cheap and b) carry two handed weapons so while they die very fast they tend to serious damage whatever they end up fighting.

I use them as a reserve unit (hidden behind my solid wall of Uruks) and they are especially fun with a Shaman and Dark Fury cast on them...fun for me anyway!

Model wise I have used the normal Morder orcs with some Isengard bits converted in here and there, notably with head swapped Uruks and normal orcs with the plastic beserker swords.

The paint job is average but the scheme is designed to complement the Uruk skin tone of dark red. Given their scum I painted the orcs's many different skin tones from green to gray to pinkish. I deliberately didn't highlight the armor and added a black wash to dull things down and accentuate the crappiness of it all.

The basing was pretty much the same as my normal lads but with some ruins added as well.

Welcome to the Madness...

Hi Folks and welcome to my Blog on Wargaming, Painting, Modelling and all things gaming related.

I am a prolific (some would say mad) Painter and Modeller of Wargames Armies. I love to game too but dont tend to get out as much as I would like. I have been gaming and building my "man barbies" for about 15 years now so I have picked up a few tricks on the way. This Blog will be a way for me to help share my creations and I hope that my fellow gamers can take something to help them with their dollies too.

Its also a great way for me to keep track of things myself. I have a slew of posts spread across multiple forums with the various army projects I have started and (sometimes) finished. I will re-shooting the armies I have finished and posting them here so I can have a photo record of them in one place. I will also try and find pictures of my previous work which has been sold on and the various commisions I have done as well.

I am looking forward to this, I hope you like the ride too. :)
