Why Geeks shouldnt DIY :(

Hey Folks,

Yesterday I was putting in some posts for a garden fence.  I'd put six posts in and had almost finished putting in the last one when I missed the post with my metal mallet, this was the result;
And that's the pretty picture (Jamie's seen the gross one!).  Somehow I managed to smash the end off (literally) my ring finger.  A trip to the A&E resulted in my Wedding Ring needing to be cut off, as well as the end 10mm of  my finger and nail being amputated.   I'm going to be one of THOSE people with the funny fingers.

Ah well, it wasn't my Right hand thankfully and I can still play Xbox.  Typing is alot slower though!

Cheers
Jason

Brutal. My sympathies.

My Grandfather had an end of his finger missing.

He used to love telling me reasons why it wasn't there.

It was only in my teens I understood he was making those reasons up! You should continue that proud tradition!!!!

Anasethtic has finally worn off, it tingles a bit now...

Love the idea, how about it was gnawn off by Rats?

Good thing I'm right handed!

I managed to convert up a Gargant last night so I can still model one handed :)

Effing ouch bro!
Hope you're healing up well.

[So much for getting an unobvious mark of chaos...]

Cheers Dude,

Its getting better, if you have to mash a bit of you its probabaly the best bit to waste!

As for the Mark of Chaos, my wife would say Nurgle claimed me long ago...

I agree Jason, the lesson here is definitely that I should avoid such jobs!

You still seem to be getting things done though, which is the main thing.

Hi Jamie,

Feel free to use it as an excuse to avoid them! I normally quite like building things DIY style though, so its a bit of a shame.

Finger is much better today, so can sort of type ok.

Hope you are feeling better soon. You have my sympathies indeed, I once came close to losing a few fingers with an angle grinder. Like you it was near the end of working; getting tired and perhaps careless trying to get job finished. Luckily enough I managed to swing it back and only took a small chunk out of my knuckle...

Thanks Scott :)

Its feeling better now, though I am not looking forward to seeing it when the bandages come off!

Angle Grinders and Band Saws and the like I stay away from if I can help it, the potential injury is pretty vivid in my imgaination!

Cheers
Jason
